Are you tired of overthinking everything? Don’t get me wrong, before you make a huge decision, take on a massive project, or implement life-changing choices, you have to count the cost.
When I say count the cost, you ask questions like, What is the worse thing that can happen? How much is this going to cost me? And What is my pain tolerance threshold? Other than that stop it! Stop overthinking it! At least that is what I’m going to do this year.
I have been talking about losing weight for eight years and lost nothing. The only reason I’m not down about it is that I’ve accomplished so many other things during those eight years. I got married to my beautiful wife, I have had good career progression with a few job changes, and I studied to get degrees, that have led me to the master program I am in now.
Seriously, I have made grand proclamations and listed many plans that have lead me to a big ball of procrastination! I have been using too many words and accomplish none of it.
For the life I have lived, it has dawned on me, that real changes do not happen with big proclamations. Achieving goals and lifestyle changes occur inch by inch, step by step, mile by mile, consistently and every day. You already know what you have to do just do it!
Do you want to save money from your paycheck? Save something you can handle like $5, $10, $100, $1000. Be real with yourself and don’t touch what you saved.
Do you want to lose weight? Order no sugar tea, skip the coke and the junior value meal. You can handle it, right? Move your body 10, 20, 30 minutes. Stop eating out so much and learn to cook.
Do you want a degree? But you got no money or time, then do one class at a time. Study something you like. You can handle that, right? I’m studying the Bible, and everyone told me that I won’t make money with a theological degree, so I studied for two years in a technical field. I became an expert in 5 years. Now I’m an engineer, and I continue my studies in theology.
Do you want better relationships? Do you want a boyfriend? Do you want a girlfriend? Then buck it up! Stop being so whiny. Man up! Woman up! Get over yourself, do things for others and in time you will run into your special someone. Oh yeah, don’t be dumb and pick a lame person that doesn’t appreciate you. Don’t compromise. Be true to yourself.
Do you hate your job? Then plan your exit. Keep working and look for another job. You got no skills? You got no knowledge for a new job? Really? I mean Really? Get on this thing we call the internet and get schooled up! Get taught for free in any field. Get smart and make it work! Don’t over think it!
And one important thing, regardless of where you are at, put God first for all your plans and success. Like seriously you don’t still doubt if there is a God. How did you get here then? Why are you here?
I just want to say Happy New Year to you all and let’s do this!
Proverbs 16:7-9King James Version (KJV)
7 When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
8 Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.
9 A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.
